Cattail Before + After

When it comes to interior design, there's nothing quite as satisfying as witnessing a space undergo a remarkable transformation. In our recent project, the renovation of a master bath, we achieved just that – a dreamy transformation that not only enhanced the functionality of the space but also brought a touch of European elegance to the heart of the home.

BEFORE

Letting the Light Shine Through

One of the key elements of this renovation was the creation of a master bathroom that felt open, spacious, and bathed in natural light. To achieve this, we made a bold move by incorporating a statement slab wall. This added a touch of luxury and allowed natural light to spill into the shower area. The result is a showering experience that feels more like a serene oasis, with sunlight streaming in to gently wake you up in the morning.

Embracing an Open-Shower Concept

In pursuit of a more European-inspired shower experience, we decided to forgo the traditional glass shower doors. Instead, we embraced the idea of an open shower concept. This design choice not only maximizes the sense of space but also creates an inviting and seamless transition from the shower to the rest of the bathroom. It's a feature that exudes sophistication and modernity — besides, no one ever says that they love to squeegee after every shower.

AFTER

Consistency in Design

To keep things looking all put together and flowing smoothly, we decided to go with the same flooring for the entire master bath. This isn't just about practicality; it's about making the space feel like one big, cohesive unit. You know that feeling when everything just clicks? Well, that's what this flooring choice does – it makes the room seem more spacious and connected. Plus, it adds a touch of timeless elegance that elevates the whole vibe of the space.

Use of Focal Points

One of the standout features in this renovation is the introduction of a freestanding tub. This design choice was a game-changer, swiftly replacing the outdated built-in spa tub while infusing the room with a delightful touch of charm and grace. To really make it pop, we installed a captivating loose-weave rattan pendant light above the bath. This handwoven fixture not only serves as a practical light source but also commands attention, becoming a captivating focal point that naturally draws the eye. The use of this statement light with the striking slab wall creates a captivating depth in the room, almost acting as a piece of art.

AFTER

Brightening the Space

To further enhance the sense of openness and brightness, we made the decision to remove the water closet. This not only opened up the space but also allowed the natural light to spread throughout the room. The removal of this partition not only maximized the sense of space but also made the master bath feel more inviting and airy.

Overall this master bath renovation project was truly a dream transformation for us to design. It showcased the power of thoughtful design choices and the impact they can have on a space. From the statement slab wall that welcomed natural light to the open shower concept, the consistent flooring, and the addition of a freestanding tub, every element was carefully chosen to create a master bathroom that exudes European elegance and modern sophistication.

If you're considering a renovation project of your own, we hope this transformation serves as an inspiration for what's possible. The master bath is no longer just a functional space; it can be a sanctuary of style and serenity.
